I've been to other facilities in Western KS with wind and very hot temps, but they don't have the MAJOR DUST STORM like Hays does.
Maybe it has to do with how the track is prepared or what type of dirt is used. I wasn't blamin a thing on the Sprints.....like I said my family and I will not be back there...its a nice facility but its not for me and my family. My opinion, and I think I am entitled to one |

after racing both saturday and sunday there... id say a lot of the conditions were due to the weather... i think the water trucks took more laps than the race cars and it was a losing battle but they were at least trying....
I for one, am glad the 305s were there to roll in the track though. you can always tell a difference when youre at a track where sprints are running as they usually make for a smooth surface... |

You certainly are entitled to your opinion, I wasn't trying to despite that, just saying its too bad to let a bad weekend ruin it for you.
As far as sprint cars getting a bad wrap, I wouldn't say that's the case at all, its just fact that the wings sling whatever is in the air into the crowd, and they don't have starters, so they take more time. |

It may take a little longer to line up the feature but they still do not last as long as a modified feature. We ran the feature in 9 min at wakeeney friday. saturday was 25 laps in 6 min and on sunday it was over in 11 mins. friday alone it took the mod 30 min because they wreck each other or spin out ever 5 laps. and a lot has to do with the track getting push trucks there to fire us off. Yea it may take longer when there is a pickup at a race. Every track needs the push trucks wakeeney speedway has. 5 of the best.

You are right, the 305s put on a good show this weekend, and I was not argueing that. In fact I have told a couple promotors, and did again after this, that URSS puts on a good show, and draws 40 cars, so they are a good deal for a special. I think they would be twice the show without the wings, but they are still a good value for a promotor.
As far as the jeeps, the ones from WaKeeney are the same ones as the ones at Hays. Just in Wakeeney they didn't have a fire department and a fair board on a power trip. When it comes down to it the fair board had a choice, and they chose not to use those jeeps, but honestly i think everyone else involved did an excellent job of making due and putting the show on seemelessly. |

I actually like racing Hays, just not that weekend...lol.
That place needs some clay brought in for sure. I put a brand new RR and LR on for Sunday and they are both junk.. ![]() I'd love to go back to Minnie, Whiskeylake (That place was good to me), T-Hill (So was that place), HPT, and some others for sure. Give me names to contact and I'll for sure burn up the phones... Last edited by Corey07; July 27th, 2010 at 06:02 PM. |
